About the Smith & Wesson M&P15 AXE SBR

The Smith & Wesson M&P15 AXE SBR is a suppressor-optimised short-barrelled rifle chambered in .300 AAC Blackout, announced in July 2026. Its 8-inch, 5R-rifled barrel with 1:7.5 twist and 5/8x24 threads is matched to a Gemtech GVAC upper that vents gas away from the shooter when suppressed. It weighs about 5.65 pounds with a Magpul CTR stock, Williams folding sights and an M-LOK handguard.

The .300 Blackout was designed from the start to run subsonic and suppressed from a short barrel - the AXE SBR is close to the configuration the cartridge was actually invented for.
