About the Cimarron 1890 Remington Police

The Cimarron 1890 Remington Police is a single-action revolver chambered in .45 Colt, a faithful modern reproduction of the Remington Model 1890 that Cimarron Firearms imports from Italian maker Uberti. The original Model 1890 was the last of Remington's single-action cartridge sixguns, built in small numbers between 1891 and 1896, and a handful served as sidearms for Native American police on western reservations, lending this reproduction its Police name. Like the original it carries a solid frame with a distinctive cutaway web beneath the barrel and a swivel lanyard ring in the butt strap, fed from a six-round fluted cylinder loaded through a side gate. The 5.5-inch barrel, fixed sights and one-piece walnut grip give the revolver classic Old West handling, while the color-case and blued steel construction offers period-correct looks with modern metallurgy. Cocking the exposed hammer indexes the cylinder and readies a crisp single-action let-off, making it a popular choice for cowboy action shooting, collectors and enthusiasts of frontier-era Remington handguns.

The Remington Model 1890 was the final evolution of Remington's single-action revolver line and one of the rarest of the great Old West sixguns, with only about 2,020 made before production ceased in 1896. Some were issued to Indian reservation police, cementing the Police nickname carried by Cimarron's faithful reproduction.
