About the Marlin Model 100
The Marlin Model 100 is an American single-shot, bolt-action .22 rimfire rifle produced by Marlin Firearms from the mid-1930s through the late 1950s. Chambered for the interchangeable .22 Short, .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle cartridges, it used a simple takedown bolt with a manually cocked striker and was marketed as an affordable, lightweight youth and plinking rifle. Later production adopted Marlin's Micro-Groove rifling for improved accuracy.
In the 1930s Western film star Tom Mix partnered with Marlin to promote firearm safety among young shooters, lending his name to the 1937-only Model 100S "Tom Mix Special" with its target sights and sling.

Serial numbers were not required on .22 rimfire rifles before 1968, so many surviving examples are unnumbered. Barrel lengths of both 22 and 24 inches are encountered. The model was unavailable during 1951-1953.
