About the Pedersoli Tryon Rifle

The Pedersoli Tryon Rifle is a percussion muzzleloading rifle produced by the Italian firm Davide Pedersoli, reproducing the mid-19th-century American plains and target rifle built by the Philadelphia gunmaker George W. Tryon. It features a heavy octagonal blued barrel, a color case-hardened back-action percussion lock and furniture, double set triggers, and a maple stock. Chambered in .54 caliber and rifled with a slow 1:65 twist favouring the patched round ball, it is widely used for target shooting and black-powder hunting.

The original Tryon rifles were made by George W. Tryon of Philadelphia, whose firm supplied plains and target rifles to westward-bound settlers and marksmen in the percussion era. Pedersoli's faithful reproduction keeps the classic half-stock Tryon lines prized by muzzleloading target shooters.

Also offered in .45 and .50 caliber, and in a Match version with Creedmoor middle-range and tunnel front sights. The .54 caliber barrel uses a slow 1:65 twist with 7 grooves, while the smaller bores use a 1:48 twist.
