About the Remington Model 510 Targetmaster

The Remington Model 510 Targetmaster is a single-shot, bolt-action .22 rimfire rifle produced from 1939 to 1962. Chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle cartridges, it uses a seamless drawn-steel tubular receiver, a bolt with double locking lugs and dual extractors that cocks on opening, and a 25-inch barrel. Marketed as an inexpensive, accurate rifle for target practice and small-game hunting, it anchored Remington's economy 500-series alongside the magazine-fed Model 511 and Model 512.

A Depression-era value rifle, the Targetmaster used a receiver of seamless drawn steel tubing rather than costlier forged steel, letting Remington sell an accurate .22 to millions of new shooters and helping train a generation on the fundamentals of marksmanship.
