About the Remington V3 Field Sport

The Remington V3 (Field Sport) is a gas-operated, semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun introduced by Remington Arms in 2015 and continued under RemArms. It is built around Remington's patented VersaPort gas system, first proven in the larger Versa Max, which the V3 distills into a lighter, more affordable package. The VersaPort system uses a ring of eight gas ports drilled into the chamber: when a shorter 2 3/4-inch shell is loaded, all eight ports are exposed and tap maximum gas, while a 3-inch shell physically covers roughly half the ports, so the system self-regulates pressure to the shell length without manual adjustment. The result is reliable cycling of everything from light 2 3/4-inch target loads to heavy 3-inch magnums, with notably soft felt recoil. The standard Field Sport carries a vent-rib barrel (typically 26 or 28 inches) on a lightweight aluminum-alloy receiver, giving a weight around 7.25 pounds for the 28-inch model and an overall length near 49 inches. The 3-inch chamber, enlarged loading port, oversized bolt and bolt-release controls, interchangeable RemChoke tubes, and SuperCell recoil pad round out the package. Walnut, black synthetic, and various camouflage finishes are offered, alongside Turkey Pro, Competition Tactical, and the non-NFA pistol-grip V3 Tac-13 firearm variants.

The V3 brought the Versa Max's VersaPort gas system, a ring of chamber ports that self-meters gas to the length of the shell, into a lighter and cheaper semi-auto. By letting the shell itself open or block ports, the design cycles featherweight target loads and stout 3-inch magnums interchangeably while keeping felt recoil unusually soft.
