The Pedersoli Ussaro Mod. 1786 is a modern reproduction of a French light cavalry musket (mousqueton), a smoothbore muzzle-loading flintlock carbine of the Charleville arsenal pattern. Also catalogued as the Light Cavalry Musket, it recreates one of France's most famous cavalry long arms in .69 caliber, ignited by a traditional An IX-system flintlock lock bearing Saint Etienne Arsenal marks. Built shorter and lighter than the infantry musket for mounted troops, it pairs a browned smoothbore barrel and brass furniture with a European walnut stock, and is offered for historical re-enactment and black-powder target shooting.

The Hussars (Ussari) were the flamboyant light cavalry of 18th-century Europe, and this short flintlock musketoon is the arm they carried slung at the saddle. Pedersoli's copy carries the Saint Etienne Arsenal markings of the original Charleville-pattern cavalry musket.
