About the Remington-Hepburn No. 3
The Remington-Hepburn No. 3 was a single-shot falling-block sporting and target rifle designed by Lewis L. Hepburn, operated by a side-mounted thumb lever and external hammer. Offered in dozens of black-powder chamberings from .45-70 Government down to small varmint rounds, it was one of the premier American match rifles of the Creedmoor long-range era. Made largely to order, it could be specified with set triggers, vernier sights, palm rests and heavy target barrels.
Born of the 1870s-80s Creedmoor long-range target craze, the Hepburn was made to order with a vast menu of barrels, sights and triggers, and is still prized today by Schuetzen and black-powder cartridge silhouette shooters.
